I am english but have lived in the Auvergne in France for 30 years. As a boy I started hunting rabbits, pigeons and crows on my uncle's farm with a Diana mod.27 .22 air-rifle and worked up to bigger guns and bigger animals, including wild boar, red stags and roe deer in "battues" in France. About 20 years ago I started stalking isards in the Pyrrenees and later mouflon, red stag (France and Scotland), chamois (Austria), ibex (Kirgistan), wapati (Colorado). I use a M-S 65x57, Ruger #1 7RM, Mauser 66S 8x68s, A-Square Hannibal 416 Rigby (Africa). I have shot many roe deer in battues, but never stalked this elusive animal.
