    What caused this tree damage.

Any idea what caused this. It's not a deer area, possibly a single fallow, but that would be odd but not impossible, or very low numbers of roe as the odd ones have turned up on the north wales coast.

Or an over eager grass cutter getting in to close to trees, kids swinging on branches. No livestock in this area.

Some looks odd as whole sections of bark are pulled off in a sheet like the first pic, but the last picture even the fence post has been mangled and there is no reason a hedgecutter would have been in there.

    Any ideas welcome.....

With the fencepost and tree tie, I'd be thinking teenage vandals as well - have they pulled out a post and then tried smashing it against the living tree to see if they could break it in half? it looks that sort of 'baseball bat swing' height.

looks like the telltale characteristic markings of the common scrote
"It's halfway down the hill, directly below that tree next to a rock that looks like a bell-end"
