Hi all,

It took me a long time in uninspiring jobs, to realise how passion makes the difference between good and great.
For me, passion is excitement, fun and dedication.
It drives me to seek knowledge, constantly better myself and to strive for perfection.
I guess if you’re a reader of this forum, you know what I’m talking about.

I have been passionate about rifle hunting since I got my license in 1993.
Hunting in roe in my native Denmark, and travelling abroad as much as time and money permitted.
My outings and trips have always given me ideas for clothing.
Most of these ideas have resonated well with other rifle hunters. And when presenting them, I’ve gotten a lot of ideas back.

After a couple of years of preparation I am now starting “Red Kettle”
“Red Kettle” is specialised clothing for rifle hunting.
It’s for hunters who, like me, want the right tool for the job.
I have different rifles for different needs. I want the same from my clothing.

This short clip explains our approach to making clothing for you.

The main website, http://www.redkettle.co, is being finalised, but we’re live on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/RedKettleCo).

It would be great if you would pop by so we can tell you a bit about our name, what we stand for as well as what we’re planning, product wise.

I appreciate that not everyone use Facebook, but we will launch the main website shortly. We will keep posted, here on the stalking directory. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for reading,

Christian

Its great to hear of someone starting a business and especially in a a field they enjoy so much (which I failed to do). So the best of luck.

Christian,

All the very best of luck in your new enterprise. I shall watch with interest. I'll be back home in Scotland in November and will be in the market for a good pair of cold weather gloves. Is this something your company will be producing too? I'm looking at gloves by The Heat Company at the moment, they have an easy conversion between mitt and gloves for shooting.

Regards,

Scott

Hi all,

Thanks for reading and for your encouraging comments!

Scott, we will ultimately make gloves and other accessories, but are focusing on jackets and trousers to begin with. I don't have an exact timeline for the accessories yet.

All the best,

Christian

Christian,

Will a pull - over, smock style jacket with a drop tail be available in your range?

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Scott,

Yes, we will include a smock / anorak style jacket, probably in a few different fabrics/versions.

We won't have them at launch, but aim to have them ready around November time.

Best regards,

Christian

Hi how about a light weight packable waterproof jacket you know the sort that folds away into a game bag etc.

I'd be very interested.

Christian,

I've been looking at the Ridgeline Monsoon 2 Euro smock and the Deerhunter Tempest. If your product is something similar and in the same price range, I'd give it a look. I'm scheduled to go to Caithness to hunt Red Hinds at the end of November.

I'm located in London too. I'll keep an eye on your website and maybe PM you closer to the time to see how you are progressing.

Again, good luck.

Good luck with your venture, like most people on here I've got piles of outdoor clothes: some of it does something's well, most of it does everything OK-ish. Ridgeline and Nomad are the brands to beat for usability, the new kid on the block is kuiu.com who are doing a great job of building a brand by word of mouth. I've not bought any of their gear, YET, but I know an Alaskan hunter who's been impressed by their clothes. keep us posted

Hi Welshwarrior,

Thanks for your interest.

Yes. We are working on a very basic light weight waterproof/brethable jacket that can go in the poacher pocket of our woodland and lowland stalking jackets (the two jackets available at launch).

The aim is to have it ready before December.

In general, our waterproof jackets will be single layers that can be packed away, as we find membranes to be noisy or not sufficiently breathable when the going gets tough.

Trousers are slightly different. We will make trousers with built in membranes, as we find that more practical. And, the breathability issue is not that great as on the upper body.

Best regards,

Christian

Where will the clothing be made?

Hi Sakotrg,

The clothing we're launching with, woodland and lowland kit, will be made in the UK.

SWB,

Thanks a lot. And thanks for your input.

The concept clothing that's relatively specific to a individual types of rifle hunting. Kind of the opposite of a swiss army knife.

I'll keep you posted.

All the best,

Christian

Hope you put the zip fastener on the proper side!:D, A proper bind when you buy quality stuff from the States such as Browning Hydrafleece...;)

Hi finbear270,

Will try :)

that sounds great I need a light jacket for stalking, clay coaching and loading/game shooting when the great British weather decides to pee on me, shooting 6-7 days a week this happens fair amount, but a normal shooting waterproof is too big. I was thinking of a barbour linhope featherweight but will wait and see what you come up with.

With that kind of exposure to the weather on these isles, I can see why you need something waterproof.

I will keep you posted.

Finally http://www.redkettle.co is live. The shopping basket will be switched on next week where you can pre-order clothes.

We're launching with the woodland clothing previously shown here, but we will follow suit shortly, with a set of clothing for lowland stalking. Same cut, but different fabric.

All the best,

Christian
