I am delighted to be able to join this excellent forum. I live in Cumbria, where I own my own business. I'm ex-miltary ( TA 'Paras' then 20 years plus as RAF officer) and so have been around firearms my whole life. I work now and again with a good friend of mine who runs a fantastic rifle club in Yorkshire (tunnel ranges etc ) and have spent most of the recent years just plinking on the range. I now want to branch out into stalking and hunting abroad. I'm particularly keen on wild boar and have some trips planned to Hungary, Turkey etc in the next year or so. I have a number of rifles and mostly favour the old fashioned calibres e.g. .275 Rigby, 300 H&H etc. I also have interests in New Zealand, so have a soft spot for 'Kiwi' hunting e.g. Tahr, mountain hunting etc. There is a lot of experience and expertise here, so I am sure I will learn a lot on this forum in the months ahead, for which I am very grateful.

    Best wishes
