Would say a bird of prey but with my gaffer tape repaired glasses that's about the best I can do.
kestrel, hovering and black bar on tail feathers be my guess
Rounded wing tips? Definitely a broad wing, not a falcon.
I reckon it was being hounded by the crows and took to the ariels for a rest in what looks to be a fair breeze, thats why it was hovering.
What does make me smile is that people are surprised at seeing this in a city.
I regularly saw a big hen Spar hunting the gardens in the centre of Derby but often wondered how many more people even noticed it
The call gives it away....Falconidae......ie Kestrel ,probably a male...I breed them so I am familiar with the alarm call, hope that clarifies
Do you think the bird in the clip is making the noise though?
