I parked up at the farm house and got ready to stalk. I had only travelled about a quarter of a mile when I spotted 4 roe does grazing in the middle of a field. Only problem was there was no cover between me and the deer. As it was they were about 300 yards away from me with no safe backstop.
Slowly I tried to move round them to the left , every 20 meters or so I checked on them . Still grazing great , it took me half an hr to get them onside of a backdrop. But they were still a good 250 meters away. So I got down on my belly and crawled another 50 meters to a small rise in the ground but that's as close as I could get. bipod down ,
the group of does we're all bolt upright scanning the area . I watched them through the scope after a while the went back to grazing one by one. There was nothing to pick between the does, so naturally I took the one closest with a safe back stop. She turned side on and dropped. The others just stood for a second then ran.
I paced out the shot at 175 yards.
