I was out working my dog on a local shoot yesterday when she came back with an unusual retrieve. After diving into a patch of laurels she came running back to me with a very lively thrush.

Nothing that unusual about this as the majority of gun dogs will pick up anything, but this bird was a juvenile with a still very baby beak. Its now almost Xmas and that bird was not long ago an egg. I live in Shropshire and the only consistant bit of summer we had was Sept/Oct which I would say would be about right for this bird. Has anyone else found any species breaking the norm?

I held the young bird in my hand for approx 5 mins and in that time it appeared to compose itself so I placed it back into the laurels where it hopped away. Hopefully it will make it.
