anyone that has replaced a howa 1500 stock for a boyds one and mag conversion what touqe did you tighten the screws to ?

From the manual:

2. To replace stock:
Insert magazine box into receiver, open end to the rear and notched end first. Place barreled action
assembly carefully into stock. Be certain trigger guard is seated properly in stock. The longer
takedown screw goes behind the trigger guard.
Tighten the two takedown screws alternately until both are snug, then tighten front screw Firmly;
finally, tighten rear screw.

thanks for that so just hand tight then

Yup. Torque loading more often than not means less tight than you might think.

For example, "finger tight" is accepted to mean "around" 8 lb/in.

An M10 wheelnut is normally torque loaded to more than 70 lb/ft - more than 97 times "tighter".

You are probably OK (since the manufacturer is not fussed) to use a 4" spanner on the front screw and shorten your grip to 2" on the rear screw AND FEEL THE SAME FORCE IN YOUR FINGERS.

That will give you as near as dammit 1/2 the torque on the rear.
