Custom game tags

No offence but my question is why? if you are selling carcases your game dealer should supply tags, most want you to use their tags not some other, and if you are not selling you don't need them.

The trouble with tie on tags is they pull off , the self sticking NGO tags are great, thread through sinew on rear leg job done.

I would hazard a guess that the tensile strength of these tags and a cable tie would be way stronger than "self sticking" tags

Really i can,t tear mine apart easily once stuck, are these tags plastic or card and what is the price compared to NGO tags rolls.

They are made of a very high tensile strength Polyolefin material. They are more commonly used as a specialist safety tag to attach to a valve or electrical switch to advise it is locked out.

With regards to the cost of them vs NGO tags. I am unsure?

Just checked the NGO website and they are more expensive than these ones.

NGO charge £6.50 for 50, plus an undisclosed p&p fee.

These tags are £5, plus p&p (approx £1.50) for 50, they can also be partially pre printed. Your trained hunter number and name can be printed, or left blank like in the example of the photo. You can also have a choice of logo and or estate name, or company name.

They look good but just one query, would they not benefit from a line saying 'Ref No' or similar? That way each carcass can be cross referenced to a game book to keep a record of each animal shot and when it was sent to the game dealer.

If it was possible to add this I would have 50 off you mate if my dealer doesn't supply,

Cheers

Yes the ones supplied by Game dealers are all numbered which helps with what you have just mentioned.

We used to put them through the sinew as you say, game dealers now want them through the flank where it has parted from the skin so that the tag stays with the carcase after skinning as they say may of the tags were being destroyed during skinning when placed though the sinew of the leg.

Hi Stratts, You spotted the deliberate mistake!!:oops:

I did intend to add a unique sequential number to each tag, if you stated the number you wanted to start on EG 000123 running up to 000173.

When you are then nearing the end of your tag stock, you reorder stating the number you want to start from, in this case 000174. If you then get 100 the numbers would run to 000274. etc etc etc.

My own tags that I use have unique numbers on for this exact purpose.

I am sure this also answers your query Mr Trotter.

These tags would also alleviate this problem too. Looking at the design of the NGO ones they would not be as suitable as a small unobtrusive cable tie.

Haha, some ones paying attention! Well done!

cheaper and may be better if need attaching to the flank as suggested, trouble is I have 2 rolls of NGO tags, enough for this season, but maybe in touch when they are gone.

Not quite so good if you need to keep them after use as they stick to everything.........

why would I need to keep them, game dealer would take info off them, enter on data base and dispose of them in bin.
