Since arriving in the US at the end of last year I have been mulling over what to buy. I wanted an all round rifle (excluding large game) and it had to be light enough to carry all day as I intend to go to Africa for my 40th to shoot plains game. I looked at the custom route and whilst its still good value in the US sourcing a left hand action was becoming a challenge and the leadtime for delivery was long.
When visiting the outdoor show in January I stumbled across the Forbes 24 rifle which is a productionised version of the Ultra Light Arms rifle.
I was really impressed with it's spec:
Kevlar Composite Stock (5 colours to choose from)
Full-Length Glass Bedded
24" ER Shaw Stainless Steel Barrel
Spiral Fluted Bolt
Talley 1" Lightweight Mount Set
LOP - 13 3/4"
Weight - 5 lbs. 12 oz. (w/Mounts)
Avaliable in a dedicated left hand action.
Sub MOA accuracy
At a price of $1600 (1000gbp)
I couldn't argue with the logic so last week made the plunge and ordered one. To go on top I have ordered the Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10 x 50.
I will keep you posted on how it shoots and would be interested to hear if any one has shot one of these yet and how they found it.
