    The "WANE" act Scotland.

From the leaflet I picked up at Kelso, it looks like SNH will be starting the wheels turning on their "review of competence".
It may take them a while, should be interesting.
I've scanned the leaflet, hope it is readable.

The wheels have already started with organisations such as BDS and BASC collecting data on how many people who stalk have gained DSC levels 1 & 2

Yes, I got that survey email too. Wonder how the numbers will stack up.
My guess is that they will look to make dsc1 compulsory no matter what, they are just looking for an excuse.
It's what Civil servants do, something else to regulate.

I think it's possibly been said on here before, but I haven't heard of anything where competence has been an issue with legal deer stalking. Of course we often hear of stories where poachers have taken deer by inappropriate means, having found evidence of it or worse, wounded animals, but that's a different issue.

So I am minded to think that this review of competence is yet another way to penalise the law abiding by introducing more restricting legislation that does absolutely nothing to address those who break the law already. It is, in effect, addressing a problem that does not exist. So we shouldn't be surprised to eventually learn it's been a great success. However, I can't help thinking that the money would be better spent elsewhere.

Or a lot of syndicate places up for grabs

How is this going to affect stalkers from South of the border and foreign guests?

The Fit and competent register is not fit for purpose and at this moment in time SNH don't have a pot to piss in there words not mine. So if any competence is driven it will be driven through the private sector BASC and BDS members beware.THIS MIGHT BE YOUR CALL.
Don't be looking for ground Scotland has more than enough to go round its just tied up with the public sector at the moment.
