So what if someone was selling stolen goods? Child pornography? etc?
Simple fact is these are medicines. Medicines are categorised based on risk of harm and consequences of misuse. I'm sure I don't need to lecture most of you about the growing threat of antibiotic resistance and appropriate use, but it's a real and genuine threat. Equally much of the time you may well 'get away' with stuffing some eye ointment into the eye for a day or two, but some conditions will be made worse, more serious issues will be missed and animals will suffer.
So purchasing medicines from abroad is against the law, you don't know what you are getting and may cause harm or suffering to your animal without the proper treatment, that the Animal Welfare Act 2006 makes it a criminal offence for you to withhold.
I'd much rather educate you guys on why it's not OK. How would it look with my professional body if I turned a blind eye to such things once I was made aware of them? Someone who is not a client buying illegal medicines from abroad will have no impact on my business. Might not be good for your dog.
Do you see why I care?
