Just been given permission on a new ground to manage the foxes and when out for the second time last night before dark to have a gander of the land and layout of the terrain before I start to head out towards the witching hours.
Had a lovely evening walking the perimeters and came across the first vixen stalking the wild Partridge we have on the land, she was so engrossed that she didn't see me get within 40 yards before the lights went out. Walked further around the field to then stalk within 30 yards of a lovely 6 pointer Roe busy having his own argument with a bush, didn't see me watching him for the best part of 20 min, magical moments when you can watch them like this.
On the last field I stopped in on before heading home met up with the second vixen, dropped her at 200 yards, so felt well pleased with an evening recce of my new ground.
Needless to say the keeper was well pleased to get my text this morning.
