+1 You see it a lot on old clear-fell areas where the brouse used to be burned. Hasn't been burnt for a long time but their must be something left over what the plant likes.
Elephant Hawk Moths love this plant keep an eye out during the late evening and you may see them.
You will probably hear them before you see them as they are quite large.
It is widespread from the days of the steam trains, cinders from the firebox would set the cuttings alight & then the seeds from the new plants would be sucked along in the semi vacuum of passing trains.
