I too feed my 270 N160.
54.5 grains for my favoured 130 grain Hornady Interlock.
I do have an unopened tub of H4831SC, I have been told this is EXCELLENT for 270 but my fear is, it will be AMAZING and when I run out I will be disappointed to not be able to find any more. So the H4831SC will stay in storage.
Never loaded 110 grain bullets though. Bewsher I believe has some experience with 110 grain bullets. I am sure he will be on soon to add his pearls of wisdom.
The load of champions!
I use same powder and same charge under same bullets!
Tired N165 initially when i first started reloading, had mediocre results and switched to N160
cleaner burn too
tried H4831/4831sc and it was much of a muchness for accuracy and uses more powder for no gain (3-6grains more)
One thing is max loads in 4831 are well off max loads of N160 (not book max loads!)
have at one point or another tried 90, 100, 110, 130, 135, 140, 150, 160, 180gr in .270
90-100 produces screaming velocities some up around the 35-3600 and compressed loads in some scenarios.
can't imagine a scenario where I would ever need that but fun to try
I have ditched everything that does not look like a 130gr Interlock or 135gr FMJ
best MV, ME and trajectory across the range I will ever shoot at (300yds)
