Hi Guys

Out last night on rabbits, came upon some bolters, not more than a week or two old.

In two seperate areas, can't remember ever seeing them this late in the year before

no rhyme or reason for it, no myxie in the area, all good stock rabbits.

are the seasons changing a bit ?

It's still pretty warm so would imagine we will keep seeing them until the cold weather takes hold. Have seen them as early as March and late as September before unless there is a good cold spell to stop it. It's only just starting to turn up here now. Dew on the grass in the morning and temperature dropping. Shouldn't be long before a first frost in Aberdeen.

Nothing unusual In the winter 80/81 ferreting I bolted Kits with snow on the ground. I lamped on Sunday night and saw numerous about 3-4 weeks old. If conditions are right they will breed all winter. it's in June they stop breeding for a while due to the Buck's testicles. If you get the opportunity read the book the Private Life of the Rabbit.
