6mm's

I love my ruger no1V in 6mm rem, with the 1 in 9 twist it can stabilise heavier bullets and for a hunting rifle is way more accurate than i am.

I am not a .243 shooter, but the .240 Weatherby seems like a lot of noise and quick burning out of barrels for a little more performance. I would go to a 6.5mm or a .257 Roberts, heavier bullet at slightly less MV.

I owned a Browning B78 in 6mm Remington, based on the same 7x57 Mauser case as the .257 Roberts. It was super accurate, and fired 95 and 100 grain bullets with ease that were a stretch for any overheated .243 Win. I bought it to rebarrel to .30-06, killed deer so well that I could not mess with it, and sold it to a friend, who worships it.
