I shall be re-barreling my Sako 75 .243 into .308 soon (well, not me, a very reputable rifle-smith will be).
Anyway, in the run up to this decision myself and Sauer were paying a visit to RG Rifles, and as per usual found ourselves drooling over his personal collection. Amongst these was a rifle Mr Gall had built on a Remmy 700 action, for use in Africa using a lovely Mcmillan thumbhole stock in a sort of imitation wood finish Mcmillan refer to as Mcwoody.
Imagine my dismay when this reply to my enquiry came from Mcmillan:
Unfortunately the Sako 75 rifles will only fit into 3 stock designs. The Sako 75 Hunter, classic and the varmint. None of the thumbhole designs will work for that action. However the three I mentioned above are all available in the McWoody finish.
So, what are the options for a thumbhole stock for a 75 then ?
