Hi Top Gun
Try Norma brass ,CCI 200 primmers & varget powder this is a good starting point. can you let me know if its for fox or deer .If you let me know i will be able to be of more help.
Cheers Derek Treherne
I use the following Hornady VMax 87gr load.
RL-19 - 44.6gr (current weight, from my records I see 44.7gr on earlier loads)
Right on the lands, neither in nor out has been successful with both my old barrel and new barrel.
Pick one brand of quality brass (Norma as recommended above or Lapua) and stick to it. Reloading is all about minimising the variation in the many variables. Keep things simple and keep good records of what you do.
Maybe worth picking up a few books on the topic; ABC's of reloading is a good one to start with.
As mentioned above, if you change any of the variants you'll need to work up a new load. i.e. brass, bullets, powders, primers etc.
You'll find a few sites with useful stuff on it like the Sierra manual but it is probably wise to stick to the min/max's grn's and combinations laid out in the books as what works for one gun may not work for another.
Probably also worth having your max COL measured as this can produce some fantastic results.
