Shotgun shuffle - advice please

Having just finished the Pheasant season i've decided to change my shotgun selection to suit the type of thing I'm doing a bit better. I've currently got a Browning Cynergy Sporting and a Hatsan Escort. I'm looking for a lighter game-specific over-under and a better quality semi for vermin shooting, preferably synthetic with short barrels as I spend quite a bit of time in woodland. I'd prefer not to have any more Chinese guns!

I'm happy with second-hand guns and budgeting around £1300 to £1600 for both items. On the semi I'd prefer to be able to load it without having to press any buttons, or lock the action rearwards. Can anyone recommend something suitable please? (I'll be getting the guns properly fitted)

Have a look at one of the game versions of the Browning 425/ 525, and far as the semi the Browning A5 is nice to handle.

I like the Beretta Silver Pigeon Game with 28" barrels. You can actually get a "lite" version of the game gun but I think the recoil would be a bit too much if you were on a large bag day.

Berretta SV 10 Perennia 28 " barrel and Winchester SX3 semi 26 " barrel should plenty of these going around second hand use them both and never had any problems with either light and fast shooting

cheers Dex

+1 for this, I have one and its a lovely gun for the money, expect to spend about £900 of your budget for a decent used example.

Another vote for the silver pigeon. I have a selection of shotguns, but the only one that has been out of the cabinet in the last year is the silver pigeon. Mine is a 30" deluxe sporter and I use it as a club gun for my uni clay team, for driven days and for roost shooting. It just never looks out of place. It fires 250 cartridges a week at present, plus an additional 500 at competitions (monthly), not to mention game and vermin shooting at home and has done so for 2 years, but it still looks like new. You can find a second hand one for £800, but if I were you I would buy a new one for around £1300 and not bother with the semi!
If however, you can't be persuaded to give up on the semi, my A400 has never missed a beat either, although it doesn't get anywhere near so much use. Don't know what they cost second hand though.

If the browning OU fitts stick browning a 525 hunter possible even in 20 bore for game shooting.

Semi auto Beretta make the best IMHO.

Browning B25 in any form.
Beretta 391 if you want the best auto
Webley 700/701 if you want a bargain and a future classic
