After meeting Fran in Finland we continued to stay in touch and when Ross said he had been speaking to him regarding a Beceite Ibex hunt I new it was going to be good.
Kindly Ricky offered to put Ross and myself up in London for the early morning flight and my son who lives there also joined us that evening for a pint and meal in a local curry house.
Id met Ricky and Ross on Malcs Mouflon hunt in Czech and we all had such a great time we were off again together.
2 hours from Gatwick and we landed in Madrid meeting Fran for the three hour drive to his 33,000 hectare hunting ground.
The place was awesome, as far as you can see was the hunting boundary
I appreciate it looks sunny but the temperatures ranged from -1 to -3 and the wind chill in the mountains took it down to a good -10. Thankfully we were made aware of what to expect but the wind was cutting..
On the first day I went with Fran in one vehicle, Ricky and Ross in another. Combined we saw around 200 Ibex, I had two busted stalks on two very big reps upto 63cm.
The one second from right was a big Bronze and they didn't hang around for long.
Ill leave Ricky and Ross to add any photographs and comments they might like to make.
Fran runs one of the most professional hunts I have ever been on, knowledge of the ground the animals and the way he looked after us was just perfect. The accommodation and food was excellent and the whole package first class.
Many thanks to all the guys for making it so enjoyable and to Antonio who celebrated his 75th birthday with myself and Fran on the mountains he had been hunting since a 12yr old.
