BASC for DSC1 Insurance?

Turns out I need insurance to do my DSC1....

Having read the old threads, I've decided to go for BASC as it's an all-in-one package rather than BDS which entails joining, then applying for insurance etc. I'm also looking for insurance and an org. that will cover me for stalking, selling an occasional carcass (Deer, Boar whatever really) and is happy to talk to my FEO should issues arise with my initial FAC application.

I'll pull the trigger on this tonight unless anyone thinks I'm making a tragic mistake.....:scared:

SACS + 1 and a lot cheaper due to being a member of the SD

Always happy to welcome a new member on board and I am always here to help if I can, so personally I hope you choose BASC!

But as you can see there is plenty of choice with a range of prices as you can see, all depends on if you appreciate the extra things that are on offer for an extra £30 or so.

Best wishes
David

Not wishing to start an argument, but as you asked the question - take a look at the home page of the BASC web site and look at the news and key issues that we are currently working on...that's what we do that others don't. Simply because we have more resources on the media, press and political lobbying side.

If shooters think that's worth an extra £30 or so a year then BASC is your choice, if not then there are plenty of others.

Personally I choose to be a member of CA for hunting and the broader countryside remit, NGO as I am a part time 'keeper, and BASC as they focus on shooting.

Best wishes
David

You get what you pay for go B A S C .They are always ready to help. They lead others follow. why have a ford escort when for a little more you can have a Rolls.Good luck.woodfordfallow

Amazed you have only just thought about insurance as you are doing a dsc, why have you not been supporting your sport before now It's not all about insurance.

To be honest, our friend is not alone, about 50% of shooters are not a member of any organisation, but at least he has got round to it and will be supporting one of them as of today, all being well.

Perhaps at your next meeting with acpo you could ask them to make it a condition of the sgc and fac to have insurance.

ACPO don't want to see compulsory insurance, nor to the best of my knowledge do any of the shooting organisations. However as some have found out its not unusual for the licencing teams to ask about insurance although of course their is nothing in the Act to support it.

There are loads of places you can do your DSC 1, loads of info here: http://www.dmq.org.uk/about.htm

Because it's not my sport yet... Having never stalked I'm doing a DSC1 to approach the sport in a responsible attitude. I won't get out more than a couple of times a year so need a head start.

BASC it is for this year then.

I can never understand the comments of this ones better than that one or cheaper than the other, the price of insurance with any of them is nothing for what you get back in actually supporting the sport. people dont bat an eyelid spending a fortune on gear and even somebody on a real tight budget it is still a few quid a week if done direct debit and each one has its benifits lets get away from bashing either side and support our sport and choose which suits you but they all do a good job and with the way the antis are banging on all the time the more somebody can keep on at them the better things will be ,you only have to look at the any lawfull quarry thread to see things are swaying our way with hard work put in on all fronts by david or ian or anyone else ,i think i might need to:coat:and have another glass of red, atb wayne
