Well im having those thoughts of packing it all in again.

Rate this Entry
Just about had enough of it all, feeling a bit cheesed off with no luck on the job front, cash flow (there is none) really low, and to top it all i just can't get excited about shooting anymore.

not sure if i will just wind things down and leave it a while and come back to it or throw the towel in.

You aren't stealing. You are claiming the fringe benefits of a club you have paid into for years. The deal was - you pay in, and if you need it, they look after you; like insurance if you will.

If you crashed your car would you claim it on the insurance? It's only stealing benefits if you haven't tried or if you are lieing about it.

You have a valid need, and they should look after you as part of a deal you made. The welfare state is meant to help those of us in need, it sounds like you are a man I would say is in need of, and worthy of, that support

    Hey Bob,

don't get too down mate, dig through, there's always light at the end of the tunnel. sometimes it's worth putting the rifles away for a few weeks and going fishing instead, the worst thing is to get tired or frustrated with your beloved hobby. don't let your work situation ruin the love you have for your hobbies!

work is tough for a lot at the moment, I'm lucky to have my job and a good income, but even with that it's almost impossible to service my debt obligations and have as much as a penny left to live off, that's been 3 years now and I feel sick with dread every day with financial concern,,,it stinks, it does, but the economy will recover and we'll be telling stories about it in 10 years. I can tell you I've had days where I've felt down, really badly, but all it does is slow me down even more, it stops me looking for new better paid jobs, it stops me being happy around the dogs and the wife, etc. it's hard, but it's necessary to 'chin up' and think outside the box.

as for claiming any benefits, it's not stealing, people who claim because they can't be bothered to try and sit at home taking drugs and getting their 12 yr old girlfriends pregnant,,they're stealing. you've paid your due in national insurance contributions! you use NHS and will be taking your state 2nd pension too I imagine :-)

hope you get better soon and get some work that lifts your spirits mate.

    cheers lads.

well im on 356 job applications, fine if i want to work overseas etc but nothing here in the uk other than working in London,

It also seems that i will have to look at stepping down from Engineering as my left arm is never going to get any better as the nerve damage done that required the operation and 2 disc's removing has all but fubared the left arms nervous system (glad i can still shoot,)

well i have just applied for two local jobs so here's hoping that i get a reply, (i wish when you apply for a job the law should be that they MUST contact you to say you have been unsuccessful in your application,) i just hate all this waiting abnd waiting.

the huntings ok nothing special these days, and cash flow is very low, i have sold my 22 lr set up to pay some bills and ill be selling on my old 308 parker hale 308 soon as i cant feed it and a 20tac and a 243, so the rifles will just be back to the 3 i used the most

    17hmr
    20 tac
    and the old 243,

if things get mutch worse ill have to sell the jeep so that i can keep the above rifles,

have i got any good news,........... i can now use 223 cases to feed the 20 tac

    other than that thats it

Get the jobcentre to fund you through a SIA license. Not ideal but security companies are always crying out for officers. wages aren't that good but it's work and would tide you over while the right job comes along. I didn't work for 18 months and now I'm turning it away.
