Stutzen stocked rifle in .308

In new rifles, the Steyr Mannlicher Classic, Sako 85 Bavarian, and CZ 550 full stock carbines are all very nice, good shooters, and really good iron sights.

Mannlicher Schoenauer (made in 1906 I think) with the open vee & folding peep rear sight is on my wish list - Absolute class!
I doubt you would find one in 308 though. I shot a beautiful 7x57 example at 300 yards a couple of years ago & hit the bull first shot. Fell in love on the spot!
The older Steyr Mannlicher Luxus (not the take down one) comes a very close second. - I have one in 30-06 :D.Unfortunately it comes with just the barrel mounted open vee sight & not the rear peep.

Absolutely! I have had early 1950 models in .30-06 and 6.5x54mm MS. The Mannlicher Schoenauer MCA was made in .308 and .243, but the .308 Win is hard to find.

The Steyr Mannlicher Luxus of the post 1972 era has a few more .308s, but still rare. I looked for one for 20 years, finally bought a .270 Win carbine Luxus and love it. A .30-06 is great, too, very versatile, can be loaded down a bit so you don't blow up deer.

Sako Mannlicher carbines built on the L579 and L61 actions are great carbines, too. A .308 Win is easier to find in those, and half the price of a Mannlicher.

I have a CZ YKK 600 in 7x57mm, new to my gun cabinet, and love the way it mounts and the sights. Friends have the full stock 550 carbines in .308, 6.5x55, and 9.3x62 and would never sell them.

Look for an Interarms Mark X Mauser full stock, or a Husqvarna. Many of them came drilled and tapped for a receiver sight, but cheap to add one if not already drilled. Change the rear leaf sight to a folding Lyman with windage and elevation adjustment, and then add a Lyman 57 aperture sight with target knobs. It goes on and off with a push button, and returns to zero, so you can swap it out with a scope in QR rings. I have that setup on a custom Mauser in .270 Win, and on other rifles.
