BASC opposes new proposals for medical fees

Where down the Pub?

Officially Harold Shipman is only accredited with 15 murders because that is all he was charged with, at the time of his conviction it was said in many circles that he was not charged with more murders because the authorities wanted the records to show that the biggest mass killings in Britain were carried out with firearms.

Ian.

Still no 'legal advice' David. Any idea when we might be graced with some conclusions. Given BASC had agreed to 'sort out' Lincolnshire firearms unit there must have been some progress made on the legal issue well before the 'New Home Office Guidance scare ???????
Didnt BASC train some at Lincolnshire ??
Its getting to the point where I cant be bothered anymore pointing out failures at BASC it as is getting too time consuming.

The man who proposed BASC/CA amalgamation was Richard Tice, now very active in Brexit matters. For the record, I queued to get in with the late Colin Greenwood who was opposed to the merger, essentially on the grounds that shooters would be used by the foxhunting side. I was not able to identify people at the meeting as wildfowlers or pigeon shooters as they were not labelled. I also had a chat with Mr. Tice afterwards. He was philosophical about the failure of his motion and understood the arguments for both sides.

So what's the difference Hunting/shooting we are all Fieldsports men and women split one off ie Hunting and look what has happened to them and us via successive governments, United we conquer/divided we fall.
I was informed at that meeting by one of the Regional BASC officers that they had "Bussed in"as many wildfowlers and Pigeon men as they could, along with one or two other suggestions as to what the antis may be doing to my house whilst I was there.
My wife got quite upset by his attitude and we both resigned from BASC straight afterwards.
The late Colin Greenwood had my greatest respect but I disagreed with him at that time and thought Richard Tice argued a very good case.

'emails to members in Lincolnshire they anyone how is impacted by this must get in touch, we will help our members when ever we can'(David BASC).When did this happen? I've not had anything. But two members of the local range have had renewal letters stating that they need a doctors report.

Sorry David I dont have an e-mail and I am a member and you know my e-mail address - why not put it on here?

Thank you for that - the GP charging issue seems to have been accepted in Scotland. If its accepted in England and Wales, I will feel its the final straw regarding BASC membership and find my own insurance. Pathetic response all round then.
BASC's e-mail to members on 'taking legal advice' Has failed to find the members of BASC on here, from their posts - so where is it? Does it, in fact, exist at all ? Come on David a 'ghost 'e-mail is no e-mail.

According to information on the BASC they currently have 150.000 members @ £78 in subs for each one. That sure is some CASH COW.

In the BASC Key 150 achievement's it states :

3. Campaigned tirelessly against regulation which is not evidence-based. Most recently, we are challenging proposals to ban ownership of .50 calibre and other rifles.

4. Advised many thousands of airgunners on the new licensing requirements in Scotland.
15. Run a survey of members in Scotland to provide an evidence base with which to fight unfair GPs fees for firearms licensing in Scotland.

I think some of the so called Key Achievement's need to be looked at again by BASC on behalf of the membership as some of the topics still seem to be very much alive and kicking, unlike the CASH COW that seems to be lurching through the crises with no leadership

Air Weapon Licensing updateIn relation to Air Weapon Licensing it was reported that there are no backlogs and the system is coping with demand. There are a number of contentious cases which are coming to light and they are being dealt with on a case-by-case basis as they arise. In respect of practice and policy, there has been only one appeal which has been heard so far and it is therefore too early to establish the ground rules in regard to guidance.

Other matters
On issues separate to today’s meeting, SACS is currently working with partners on the British Shooting Sports Council on a number of other matters, including the potential for air weapon licensing in England and Wales and the planned Offensive Weapons Bill, which focuses on high muzzle energy firearms, such as .50BMG rifles and certain rapid-firing platforms, such as MARS and SGC Lever Release rifles. We will keep members informed in due course.

As I said in my previous post regarding your top 150 achievement's.

BASC YOU'VE FAILED to support your members and the shooting community in general. I wouldn't bank on your members supporting YOU when the renewals arrive.

Wildfowlers and Pigeon shooters there voted it out. A very bad mistake in my opinion.

I disagree. The houndsports fraternity have never been slow to say tarnish shooting in an attempt to justify what they do. All this "wounding foxes" or "dangers from lamping with high powered rifles". They deserve no respect because, in truth, they don't have the integrity to simply say that they hunt because they enjoy it...pure and simple. If BASC and CA merged I have little doubt that the funds of BASC and its resources would be usurped to lobby for a repeal of the Hunting Act...and, beyond mere lip service ...shooting could then go hang.

+1 The Countryside Alliance have made several absolutely outrageous anti shooting statements. Why shooters ever supported them and went on the marches in support of fox hunting beats me.

I think you massively underestimate how stupid some people are , this is by no means a new thing then letting down members but yet people still keep paying out

I have checked and no e-mail from BASC yet - I have recently corresponded with them and also sent in a subject specific member request yesterday morning. Still nothing, it seems others have had 'nothing' too.
I know BASC has my e-mail so why suggest an email was sent when clearly it wasn't ?
More time, so far, from 'over the weekend', we are now at Thursday - another (at least) 4 days, very sad response and certainly not worth the subs of £70+ per member by anyone's measure.

Just searched my Gmail, and nothing from BASC since January 31st. Perhaps this latest email only went out to members in Lincolnshire?

Sad, very sad!! As someone who has followed hounds since WW2 ended (not just foxhounds) and shot and stalked for over 60 years I still am disappointed in people who cannot see the wood for the trees. Hunting with hounds has more or less gone and with our pathetic representative organisations shooting will not be too long in following it. How many people forty years ago would ever have imagined a petition to stop grouse shooting, and antis on the moors. My grandkids will see the end of sport shooting in all forms, simply because we could not all come together and stop the rot. Just remember that the huge Edinburgh and London marches did not stop a hunting ban and neither will a semi useless shooting organisation with far fewer members, only something akin to the NRA in the states can do it, and even they struggle.

The email to all members who's email address we have, went out last weekend

Yes the email went to members in Lincolnshire

Just an observation, but considering what a hot potato this saga is, would it not have been prudent and courteous to copy that email to all members.

What happens in Lincolnshire comes to a county near you !!
