So...do you enjoying killing?

My business spends over USD100,000 every year on wages for anti-poaching staff. That money comes from trophy hunters. Do you know anyone else who will give me that money?

Kind regards,

Carl

In any event, how many of your customers are *really* buying biological wall decorations?

My understanding is that the motivation for the vast majority of trophy hunters is not the small fundament of the hunted animal, but the experience of having hunted it.

Seriously, what proportion of hunters are really killing to put heads on a wall?

Quite right. These are committed and ethical hunters buying an experience. The trophy is simply to help them subsequently to remember and reminisce about it.

Knock 30 yrs off my age and you would have company. It would be good if he had a chopper and a couple of San trackers. :-|

One of you either side, standing on the skids, roped to the chopper, an AK apiece. Unlimited quota, no kill fee, keep the carcasses at game-dealer rates...:p

Think we're gonna get told off soon. Best stop the naughtiness...

Don't like AKs last time I played similar games it was a little 30 cal American carbine as choice but I was on the ground. Why stop when I'm reliving my youth, but I suppose I had better do so.

Are trophy hunters really hunting?
A guide usually does all the hunting right up to deciding when the shot will be taken, or not.
Or have I got that wrong?
Regards,Ken.

I think that is a good question, one which applies to anyone who hunts with a guide. The 'trophy' part of it is a red herring.

Kind regards,

Carl

Or is guided hunting only about trophy hunting? There are places which are on public land where you can hunt for trophies and you have no guide.

Agreed. The conflation of guided hunting amd trophy hunting makes no sense. They are on entirely different axes of the matrix.

Shoulda been more specific, sorry, wasn’t including the likes of you.
More the ones that may only get their gun out once every Preston Guild, or less! And pay a guide every “Hunt”.
Regards,Ken.

Hi Ken,

So now we're throwing another variable in:

Trophy vs meat; guided vs self-guided; and - the new one - frequent vs infrequent.

How frequently does someone need to go out in order to qualify as a hunter? What about the struggling paramedic or shop-worker who saves up to go on an outing once or twice a year with someone like Sikamalc to guide them after a doe? Are they not hunters?

Kind regards,

Carl

that depends Ken, technically the trophy hunter has to hunt for a beer in the cool box and as far as I am aware that counts.
