A quick phone call to 101, where they told me to put it in an email. They replied with a reference number, job done.

I can definitely see the sense in letting plod know you intend to shoot at schools, joe public will be on the phone and calling on armed response without a doubt, however your local police station sounds like it's occupied by some strange types.
