I did it, much easier to email than fill in the questionnaire if that is putting anyone off

Yep, responded a while ago and have encouraged everyone I know to do the same.
Me too, but it can be a struggle, can't it? Generally, people are against "trophy hunting", but strongly in favour of conservation. It can take a lot of explaining to get people to appreciate the vital link between the two and eventually persuade them to respond positively to the consultation.

Totally agree ,our shoot has 4 areas of cover crop with loads of wildlife sheltering there and taking advantage of the hopper feeders across the farm. The antis see an elietest hobby but it,s not and refuse to see the benefits gained from Winter feed and pest control .
The shoot "guns" are office workers ,tree surgeon ,engineers ,farmers ,there,s not a Lord or "laydee" amongst them

Yes VSS it is a struggle but after seeing the various shooting disciplines I've been lucky enough to enjoy in the past be legislated out of existence I owe it to those that follow to put the effort into retaining what we have left.

Glad that that it has been extended.
It's a real shame that this could affect the future of not just shooting but the breeding conservation and the loss of some gorgeous animals. Breeding trophies is an art.

Hi All,

I thought to update this thread as the consultation closes Tuesday.

I managed to persuade four others to fill in the Defra consultation and anyone else I know I have asked them to fill it in.

I appreciate the PM was on PMQ's and said it would be banned, but all of us realise this is just another method to restrict shooting sports, if option three was fully implemented it will do a rake of damage to the UK deer industry.

If anyone hasn't already filled in or emailed to Defra please do.

Rgds

I pointed out in the "any comments" section at the end, that demanding TWO choices from the options given was BS, intended to show "support" for the "least worst" option & I did NOT support any further restrictions.
This was in addition to my previous, long & detailed email submission highlighting the negative aspects & outcomes of any such populist bans & restrictions.

No doubt my views will be ignored, as they don't fit the predetermined outcome of this "consultation" & the emotion driven screams of the "woke", who have little or no real idea of what "trophy hunting" involves, will be given far greater weight compared to those with first hand knowledge.

Interesting article on the effects of pressure from woke western privileged folk being brought to bear on developing countries
Typically it's the poor who pay and it does no good for wildlife or their supporting ecosystems
Virtue-signalling in a nutshell

Ive responded and even wrote to my MP for the first time who it appears is not against field sports or gane hunting apparently! Cant say big game hunting is for me but if it means big game survives rather than becomes endangered/extinct then so be it. Think the average punter believes the whole of sub- saharan africa is like a david attenborough wildlife programme when having been there myself it clearly isnt!
