FINALLY, My First UK Boar ...................................

The two I shot was stalked on foot first one was shot just before dark there was probably a dozen or so out in the middle of the field and the second one was shot in the wood in the day

did i hear correctly that the fc have stopped shooting the pigs in that area because of game dealer problems?

When I shot, I was told that the game dealers, and even the butcher wasn't taking game, and unless my friend could find a home for it, I would have to take it, if I were successful.

So yes. it sounds about right.

Yes, it is really very difficult to shoot one. I have access to a small patch of woodland that holds Wild Boar, close to the Forest of Dean, and after having tried some 15+ times in the last 2 years I have seen Wild Boar three times, but shot none. However, I have tenacity. One day....

Romanian KId is correct. Diesel and straw in a wallow gets rid of all insects on there Fur and they love it.

Hi Erik Use one of our Electronic feeders and you will soon draw them in. Maze and pig nut mix is excellent and mark the trees with our Boar attracter.

Its a very bad idea to start splashing diesel about in the countryside. Its a terrible water pollutant. The game dealer takes diesel smelling boar? I wouldn't want to skin a diesel stinking boar It may be OK in Rumania A bit of silt diesel is the least of their worries. and yes I have spent time there helping a gamekeeper mate. Stupid idea to suggest on a open forum.

Very well written, that's what real hunting is about. You wouldn't enjoy it if it was easy. My best stalking memories are from the early days when I was making mistakes and learning loads - when it finally all comes together it is magic.

REAL HUNTING!!

C'mon, bait station, thermal, no doubt a Thermal or NV rifle scope......very very far removed from real hunting.. No doubt very exciting for the OP but not real hunting, all he had to do was not make a noise and aim straight.

The point really was the determination. We can all be lucky in 'natural' hunting and we can be unlucky in 'arranged/planned' hunting. It's not a competition.
