i have just acquired a Pard 007 S/H rear add on night vision what scopes are best for it? What are my choices? what do you use?

I hear they don't work so well with high end scopes. Anyone have any knowledge of that?

Hawke frontier 5-30x50, I’m very pleased with how well it works, although I definitely wouldn’t go any higher in base mag, lower would be even better.

Scopes that work well with the PARD 007 will have the following characteristics:
Side or front focus down to around 10 yards
Objective lens of 50mmm or more
Low base magnification(x4 or less)
IR friendly glass. This is the part that most top end scopes fail on. Their lens coatings do not pass IR as well as many cheaper scopes
Scopes known to work well are:
Hawke Sidewinder
Sightron S Tac
Delta titanium
Athlon Midas
Bushnell Elite
Meopta Optika 6

Cheers

Bruce

Hawke Sidewinders 3-12, 4-16 and a Hawke Endurance 3-12 all x 50 work very well, tried an old Vector Optics Sentinel 6-24 x 50 last night and could see a fox quite clearly at about 200 yards, I did have to grind down the knobby bits near the eyepiece to slip on the collar but it was a worthwhile experiment.

Yip. I tried a 007 on an IOR and it was not great. this seems to be the case with best quality German or Austrian glass. Good low mag Japanese scopes seem to work best. my Sightron S111 is very good but has a bit to much magnification for finding targets. The better Stac models are as good as it gets the 3-17 x56 in particular is reported to be the the best for this application.

So a Swaro 6 x 42 wouldn't be a good match then?

pard 007 works well for me with Mamba Lite but surprisingly
more range with old Tasco 3x9x50 AG. Sidefocus & ladder reticle make Mamba Lite favourite on 22lr but AG favourite on .222.

I tried mine on a S&B 3-12x50 Klassik. Useless, couldn’t see a thing. Tried it on my Kahles CL 4-12x52, pretty damn good I’m glad to say. Tried it with a Hawke Air Max, not bad but preferred my Kahles during the day.

Here is footage from last night, Schmidt & Bender PM2, IR laser, 330m fox, scope mag of 7x, pard mag of 2x then upped to 2.5x.

Easily identifiable as a fox and good enough for a shot.
