Ruger M77 mk2

Looking for advice on improving my Ruger, don’t get me wrong it’s a cracking rifle and considering I paid £350 for rifle, moderator, Harris bipod sling and a Leupold VX-3, consistently shoots half inch groups with factory ammo. It’s just looking tatty and it’s heavy with the wooden stock!!
What aftermarket stocks and other parts are available? I can’t find a lot online! Am I better off trading it for something a bit more modern?

I wouldn't touch it if it shoots nicely. Maybe a lighter moderator and ditching the bipod will help weight a bit.

Lovely rifles. I'm going to make a lightweight carbon fibre stock for mine and also put a lighter moderator on it eventually, which will probably lighten it by 800g or more.
Absolutely. Have had four of these over the years. Three I have shot out and one I sold since it was getting too heavy to carry, (heavy barrel .308).

Apart from the 'boat paddle' zytel stock, there isn't much else to add in terms of upgrades.

Since it's controlled round feed, some people have started looking for these actions.

Downside, maybe the scope mounting system?

I think @takbok bought a .220 swift ruger M77?

I put a boyds on my cack handed rust bucket ruger m77, been trying to kill it for a decade but just won’t die 😂😂

live them so much got another in Devon in 7x57 just waiting for my 141.

you could try and get a factory synthetic stock?

I know their gettable and not all the money In the world

Definitely a downside, recent purchased a sight mark wraith which can only be mounted on a picatinny rail and trying to find one for the Ruger is a nightmare!

Brought mine from Mountsplus.com with duty it came to around £80.
I'm sure Scott Country had them listed on their web pages.
Put a RifleBasix trigger kit in it, which improved the pull.
Put it in a Boyds stock which was just as heavy as the original. Couldn't get on with it and found it cumbersome to get a fast second shot off, so sold it and got a Hogue for it from Brownhills.
Third Eye Tac. Sparton over barrel mod is light in comparison to some and it helps to keep the length down.
It's a good tool for the job.

I have a factory synthetic stock I took off mine (short action mk2 Hawkeye) I'd be willing to sell.

It was taken off after a single use, so is pretty much perfect. Drop me a PM if interested.

If your M77 Mk2 is short action, Britannia Rails also stock a rail for the stepped receiver. Long action you will have to go with a Weigand and order thru Brownells. Bear in mind if you swap out the stock, the barrel is not fully free floating, there is a pressure point at the forend tip, which is what Ruger designed, however I am sure that there are probably members on here who have fully floated M77 mk2 barrels with no loss of accuracy.
