Legality of 12 gauge blank trip wires

when I first started my pheasant shoot I had all my feeders dieselled. I came up with a grand plan to fit a couple of trip wire blank firers inside some feeders to give the perpetrator a surprise next time he attempted it. But having strong suspicions about who did it, and the age him, I genuinely decided against it worried it may give him a hear attack!

Did he stop or just faded away....

Nah, don’t want to stop the deer coming in…the badgers will come right up to the house but the deer tend to stay in the paddock area (which is away from the area I will be placing said bangers….

Not really damage in true sense, just part of nature, know you can/could use electric fence to protect fisheries against otters, would have a peak at the badge act!

Sometimes badgers die from ingesting fast moving lead? I’ve heard it said anyway?

I heard of a farmer a few years ago that had a big problem with badgers he asked the two guys shooting rabbits with air rifles to shoot them who pointed out the law to him and then asked if he could move an old slurry tanker to another place as it was near one of the bigger warrens turns out there was a mishap involving 500lt of slurry badgers were never seen again

I’m not sure at all what your implying clearly responsible shooters only use copper rounds as I do exclusively (honestly). Can’t have any lead peppered around the countryside harming wildlife can we.

They don’t like robot mowers much, which can be programmed to mow at any time of day or night. You can even get headlights as an optional extra.

Up here badgers have a tendency to magically appear dead on the road with tractor tyre marks over them...

I don’t think a few tongue in cheek comments will change the fact we fight a losing battle in fieldsports, you can change from lead, to copper, to gold and they will still come after us and win…

The badger issue is ridiculous and the laws on this needs to change - I can show videos from a trail cam of a family of 4 badgers in one spot, it’s the same with most of the species the do gooders have campaigned about - we now see 8 buzzards in one field at a time.

Maybe there needs to be harder discussions on it and the feeling of frustration need to be seen - the comments demonstrate this even though most are tongue in cheek.

personally i think badgers should be controlled like foxes and save a few ground nesting birds. Having said that i obey both the word and the spirit of the current laws even if they are daft.

Yup…haven’t seen a hedgehog for years due to the number of badgers!

The local RSPB reserve spotted an otter, so they built an artificial holt for it, right where they are trying to get Bitterns to nest on the ground.

im not doubting the law is daft, but stories of scenarios to bend or break it arent needed.
trying to open sensible debate is the way forward, we should strive for balance
