Best Stalking/Rough Shoot Boots

Evening All,

I appreciate this is a common topic, but i cant see any recent conversations over the last few years on what people find are the best boots for stalking/rough shooting.

I've seen some fairly old reviews saying avoid Harkila - is this still the case?

Looking for something waterproof and durable, but not clunky!

Any advice or tips welcome.

I haven't read it but have been told to avoid Harkila boots by friends of mine that bought them. I use Altberg boots and they are the bomb. Have a couple of Harkila tops and trousers and they are very hardwearing.
Thanks - which Altgerg boots do you have?

Here's a list of the boots in our boot room:

1 pair of le Chameau, fallen apart.
1 pair of Harkila, fallen apart.
1 pair of Altberg, too uncomfortable to wear.
6 pairs of Haix cold / wet weather boots, in daily use.

Make of that what you will!

Which haix model/s though out of interest?
Had a look on the haix website and can’t find any under the cold/wet name.

Alt-berg Bergans or Haix High Liability. Go half a size up for either and you’ll probably stay with the brand for life. Bargains for both can be found on e-bay but that will depend on your size.

Haix cold / wet weather is what they're called. They're milsurps, but often brand new still in original box. About £60. They were made under contract for the British army, I believe.
Have also tried the Haix high liability, but the fit wasn't so good, and not such nice boots, so sent them back.

Another vote for haix milsurp.
I've also got a pair of AKU NS564 milsurp boots that are extremely comfortable but not waterproof boots, not good when it's cold but brilliant to walk in.

Hanwag... Most comfortable boots i ever had !

Also waterproof and silent.
Which ones? Mine leak like hell and hanwag won’t reply to emails despite having bought directly from them as they now sell through retailers only,, but they don’t want to know as they didn’t sell them!
****ers! 😂

That’s good to hear !

Might try those next if I can get over my personal issues with their customer service 😂

Did you also find you needed about two sizes down? Ordered a 10 uk originally (I’m a 10 always), and ended up returning twice for a 9.5 and 9,, which are still a touch big! The 10’s were like a 12-13 uk!

Brandecosse.Lovely quality boots. And excellent customer service
Granted they may not be the cheapest but they are much better made than others I have had.

I've been wearing Hanwags for the last twenty years and never had this issue. Maybe you ran into one of the wide models?

Another vote for altberg, had several pairs of defenders over the years and now have a pair of gunnerside. Very comfy and keep my feet dry
