Greta…

since covid struck the planet I have been thinking much more about where the human race is heading with regards to the climate crisis and human impact on the globe. All the politicians seem to be doing is romancing the truth and talking up new ideas to try and solve the issue when the reality is that the planet cannot sustain us all for long unless we life like cavemen.
Unless we have global consensus we are spitting in the wind. It is unlikley china and russia will ever jump on board so any of the agreements at COP26 are likley to be useless.
I think we are at the point of no return now with global warming and think the best we can do now is to start prepping for more extreme weather, rising costs of energy, food, living, travel etc.
The elephant in the room that the politicians are not addressing is that there are too many people on the planet. Electric cars aren't the answer either we just need millions less of them and stop buying/leasing new ones every few years. And then the other thing is we need to massively reduce our waste and do some proper waste recycling. It seems to be a shambles in the UK.

Ive come to the age that i've realised i'm not working for myself any more but the future for my children and I do fear for the planet we will leave them so I decided to start somewhere. My wifes got excited and banned all plastic products in the kitchen. Im now using a coconut hair pan scourer  . not my favourite tool but we all have to start somewhere and if its not in landfill for the next 1000 years then gotta be worth a try.

Just for a small moment consider each volcanic eruption spew far more green house gas than man kind ever has. Yes be a good steward for the land, just dont forget climate changes with or without human kind. Apogy and Perogy around the sun and tilt on axis. The dinosaurs didn't smoke tobacco to become extinct.

Expectations management required. Better to adapt to the anticipated new normal (historical cycles aside, ahem), than to destroy the life chances of the (far, far too) many trying to save the planet by living or aspiring to live as we do. But hey, they can all have a gas, gassing about it, and meantime, knock yerself out trying. The coconut Brillo is a start, until everyone wants one, today, but small steps..

Ask old Canut how he got on - he was the King, y’know, so if anyone could have…

She’s a completely insufferable c unit and alongside all those self righteous politicians preening at COP ought to go spend some time in the real world to understand how all this agenda will affect your average man.

If another do gooder hippy has the audacity to lecture me on my footprint whilst eating their imported veg/fruit from Christ knows where and driving there Tesla I think I might scream.

I agree with most of that…but not that she’s a c unit - it’s her parents that are C units….for pushing their child into this just to push their own antifa agendas…scum!

I believe in climate change - it’s always happened, I don’t believe in the hysteria surrounding it - as has been mentioned the earth has always had volcanos, oceans etc and these make our carbon contributions look tiny.

We do need population control, limit to two children etc. But will the whole world do this?

Gixer

I’ve been researching climate change for 23+ years, and I’m really not worried about the future scenarios - any potential threat is minor for most people, we have plenty of time to adapt and are definitely not facing an existential crisis! There will be positive opportunities as well as negative impacts. At this moment in historical time, we are in the middle of a natural interglacial period of warming - the current situation is not outside of expected temperatures - and weather has always given us extreme events!

I thought it was just me getting irritated by the sanctimonious little ar*e. Stamping her feet and having a tantrum because she wasn't "invited" to speak at the Cop-out 26 conference. The half-wits in the media giving her all the air time she wants of course ! Once she has shown me some evidence of well researched scientific papers she has written or provided some worthwhile life experiences through her work, I would maybe get her to address a fringe meeting, but as a) she's done nothing of the sort, b) she has yet to be employed/employable and c) she's an entitled little nonentity reflecting her comfortably well off parents attitudes we should maybe just pack her off home..... via China so she can lecture President Xi .....or maybe via Russia so she tell President Putin where he's gone wrong.....
Still, at least our esteemed Worst Minister Sturgeon was there to see if Saint Greta's magnetic personality would give her a bit of publicity:rofl:

Agreed but now she’s an adult albeit one who’s clearly manipulated she’s equally culpable. Imagine the hit in emissions if a global pandemic ripped away 50% of the population. Simples.

I saw a short bit of an interview with her the other day where she was winging about not being invited to speak at this latest Global Warming meeting.
Why the hell should she have been invited? It's for world leaders, no for kids who are just puppets and mouthpieces for their parents!

Fact is the population is to large for the available resources.

Jaques Attali.....

“In the future it will be a question of finding a way to reduce the population. We will start with the old, because as soon as it exceeds 60-65 years man lives longer than he produces and costs society dearly, then the weak and then the useless who do nothing for society because there will be more and more of them, and especially the stupid ones. Too large a population, and for the most part unnecessary, is something economically too expensive. Socially, it is also much better for the human machine to come to an abrupt halt rather than gradually deteriorating. We won’t be able to run intelligence tests on millions and millions of people, you can imagine! We will find something or cause it, a pandemic that targets certain people, a real economic crisis or not, a virus that will affect the old or the fat, it doesn’t matter, the weak will succumb to it, the fearful and the stupid will believe it and ask to be treated. We will have taken care to have planned the treatment, a treatment that will be the solution. The selection of idiots will thus be done on its own: they will go to the slaughterhouse on their own.”

Excerpt From: Jacques Attali. “A Brief History of the Future: A Brave and Controversial Look at the Twenty-First Century.” 1980

Jacques Attali is a French economic and social theorist, writer, political adviser and senior civil servant, who served as a counselor to President François Mitterrand from 1981 to 1991.

Well that little phrase gets my vote for second place, in the smartest use of language this month.
I'll see myself out.

Fixed both problems . . . . Apogee and Perigee are English, but I'm not sure what those words are.
Nice to see misogyny is still alive and well. :);)
