Dont you know every game dealer has installed airport security scanners and have conveyer belts going through them!!? All of the meat is irradiated....dont put 35mm film in with your carcasses!
I can see the handheld detectors being employed but am unconvinced how much time would be spent on this. More likely, take the man at his word until/unless you find something you shouldnt in the carcass.

Granted the price is higher but is the ammo really the main consideration ?
Find it also little contrary that people complain about the price of a slab of shotgun cartridges when they are off on a £600-1000 driven day
Its like driving 10 miles more to save 2p on fuel
There are some brands that frankly take the ****
But on the whole you can get hunting ammo within a sensible price range
You are always going to pay more for something that is significantly more time involved to make

Amazed at the level of ignorance being shown regarding food processing and public expectations
Contamination checks do not start and stop at the game dealer, all have to demonstrate due diligence from shooter to game dealer to processing plant to suppliers and shops

Went into a gunshop today, and for a laugh, asked to have a look at some factory 'lead-free' offerings.
Prices ranged from £39.99 to £80for a box of 20 centrefire rounds. Average was £50-60.
These rates will only be going up.
On the other hand, primer rationing has already begun... not good news as the next shipment is predicted to be up 60% in price.
Realistically, just how many rounds a year, is a "recreational" stalker going to fire ?
No one likes to see prices going up, but I can't see this having any impact on people shooting !

There is NO legislation banning carcasses shot with lead based ammunition in the UK. There is a move among SOME but not all, dealers.
On the other hand, there is strict LEGISLATION, regarding safe food handling and e-coli, ignored by chumps in Scotland.
Clearly you cannot tell sarcasm in the word , every. I know people are hand scanning BUT like everything that isnt REQUIRED BY LAW it is hard to see small enterprises bothering. They meet the actual requirements.

Makes me laugh when someone throws in brexit ? Ammo prices are rising world wide dueto the price of commodities nothing to do with brexit or Boris, ammo here is averaging $59.99 for 20 in the major brands, put on average $10 cheaper, magnums $79.99, creedmore $69.99 and 6.5x55 $99.99 all up $10 on last year, strangely we have not joined or left the EU.

Lead into deer causing issues is theoretical b*ll*cks highlighted by planks now being exploited by tree hugging wokey re-wilding anti’s. If there’s money to be made out of shooters willing to go down this route you can’t blame the manufacturers for promoting that situation - they have share holders to satisfy.
