Omicron

With a bit of luck we’ll be back drowning the shamrock in the pubs on Paddy’s Day.
Scrub that. Stay at home because even walking outside you could catch it and we can't risk that and be reported as a breakthrough case. I mean it would be just terrible to the narrative of staying at home and stopping the spread.

Judging by the ‘efficacy’ of those ‘vaccines’ you may well be right, it’s a good thing the most of the small minority who didn’t bother with them in the Emerald Isle (one of the highest jabbed populations in Europe) will also be getting the omicron over and done with.

It's estimated that half a million Irish people had the virus last week, schools are back and the weather is perfect for spreading it.

The hippies have realised they are going nowhere without proof of vaccination, good weather and medical advances are on the way, we'll have this beaten by March.

Until October and the seasonal rise in respiratory ailments?

Who estimated that then ? Seamus from down the pub ?
Official figures are more like 100,000, but we can allow some doubling or trebling if you like, but the main bone of contention is this , you only have a total population of 5 million, according to the half million estimate, by March , every man , woman and child will have had it 3 or 4 times by then

It doesnt make sense though does it , one of the highest vax rates in the world , low population density , and you have a stupidly high infection rate ?
But those vaccines work really well dont they ?
Im sorry , but theres always another variant , and next autumn we will be back to square one, if you think we have 'beaten' the virus, we havent , weve just learned to live with it.
You can throw money you havent got at it till the cows come home, but Id get used to seasonal rona , like youre used to seasonal flu.

I'll revisit this in March and see how we did ...

I've got a fairly neutral, leaning towards fatalist stance on all this. Today however I did stumble across an article which caused quite some concern to me regarding, on the face of it, controlling the breeding of the unvaccinated. North Korea you ask? No. The Democratic People's Republic of Scotland of all places.

I would like to make a topic about it but no doubt it'd turn into a s**t-slinging contest like most of these threads do

It wont be just unvax not allowed to breed, it will be anyone unwilling to put their child into the state indoctrination programme... state guardian for every child ?

Remember children, report your parents if they say unpatriotic things about Dear Leader.

150,000 cases today in Australia. Retired and unemployed people are being asked to work to replace the workforce that is staying at home and isolating.

The sooner we all stay home and get paid for nothing the sooner we can eliminate the virus.

One week gone by and new cases down to 5,767.
7 day average down to 13,469.

Looks like we've passed the peak.

Pubs could be fully reopened very soon, full attendance could be allowed at the upcoming 6 Nations games.

Green shoots, roll on Paddy's Day! ☘️
