Night vision for 308?

Trying to get a foxing setup sorted and looking at either a dedicated night vision scope or an add on. Only issue is that I will be using a 308 (no space /budget for another dedicated fox rifle) . Will there be too much recoil for a night vision add on?

I've used a 007 on my 308, and while I found it was useable, it was far from comfortable. Might be my shape / stock with the 007. I didn't get black eyes, but being in an uncomfortable position the recoil was more noticeable / I was more aware of it.

Since bought a 243 and it's much better than the 308 with the Pard - i don't notice it at all.

Out of interest, why choose the 308 as your dedicated fox rifle? I'd suggest there are better calibres that can be bought cheap SH (unless you're a leftie like me!)

My foxing rig is a 308. Use the wraith and PBIR. 150 grn nosler BT. It works! Didn't have a slot or space for another cal so used the rifle I had when I bought another 308 for stalking.

I got the 308 for deer and boar, but am running rather low on space and funds now. Currently have 7 guns in a 5 gun cabinet and it's a bit of a squeeze! Ideally I will look at a 223 or similar in future

I'm in the same boat. No space left and renewal isn't too far away so seems pointless putting in a variation now

Hi Ben,

What day scope have you got on the .308?

Nothing wrong with using what you have. I've had a few Foxes with my .308 as and when. 👍

Cheers

That's part of question really, I had been using a cheap Hawke scope but its occasionally losing zero (presumably recoil related), so will be relegated to the 22lr. So starting from scratch on 308 and unsure whether to get glass and a add on or just a night vision scope.

Delta Titanium + Pard 007 = best of both worlds for you perhaps?

Otherwise stick a C50 on there and you’re good to go I guess.

As Mark says, the C50 seems popular, but then you will always need batteries and have a daytime image that will never be as good as glass.

I would be tempted to go big and get the Delta which is an excellent day scope, and has great performance with an add on. For the add on, I would go for the Pard NV007S which is a big leap in quality and is a LOT shorter when mounted to the day scope so your eye relief isn't compromised and there will be very little danger of a scope eyebrow.
