I have been using Sierra gameking 6mm 85grain hpbt bullet heads for several years now.
This was following seeing positive reviews. I really can't fault these and therefore have not tried any alternatives.

Foolishly I did not anticipate that at some time in the future I may struggle getting hold of these which is my current situation.

If anyone is able to recommend a supplier who has them in stock that would be very helpful.

Or if there are any similar alternatives that might be the way forward.

I understand the Sierra tipped gameking are a very different design.
I have seen a 87grain low drag hp from Berger, does anyone have any experience with this?

I shoot .243 Winchester, looking at 3000 to 3200fps in a 1:10 twist. Mainly used for fallow doe and smaller bucks nearly always heart and or lungs at distances 50 to 200 yards (majority under 100yards).

This bullet has given consistent great accuracy and most deer dead within a few yards - if that is not too hard to ask for!

you could try and find some hornady 87 gr hp varmint.<dont worry that they have varmint on the box. they, like the 87gr v-max act exactly the same as the 85gr sierra game king hpbt and are an excellent deer bullet. close in 30 yards you will get a bit of bruising the same as the game king but out to 100/200 yards perfect mushroomed bullet with minimal damage. good luck with your search.

Hi Danl;
I too very much like the performance of the 1530 Sierra bullets.
Shoulda bought more when available, but like you now, can’t find any.
Sierra have discontinued several bullets but not this one.
Friends in USA also finding it not easy to locate.

Somebody'll say it, it might as well be me: not every .243 will stabilise 100gn bullets.

OP I sympathise with your situation having used Hornady 100RNs driven by Hodgdon H4350 powder until the RNs were phased out and 100gn Sierra Gameking PSP ever since. Now I not only need to find a European powder but need to change bullet too. Grin and bear it, I'm not interested in giving up.
 
Hmmm. Can’t speak for 6mm but the 6.5 shoots Sierra 130gns TGCs very well indeed as many roe and fallow have found out since they became available. Those and my old stand-by 120gns Sierra Prohunters are great bullets for deer.
McCleods of Tain had 6mm TGCS in stock only 5 mins ago!!

I went mad and bought a 1000 85 grain gamekings 3 years ago as I use them for deer and fox. They are brilliant alrounders.
Glad I did as I have not seen any available in ages.
 
Contract Henry Kranks they are the importers you can order them as well
Shot hundreds of deer with them best 243 bullets I’ve found
 
I used to use them in my .243 but changed to Nosler 80gr BT Varmint because they are consistently in stock at my local gunship. Although it says varmint on the box the bullet jacket is deeper and thicker at the base than a hunting BT. I've used them up to 200m and they exit Roe shot through the shoulder and drops them on the spot. Strangely they seem to do less internal damage than the Sierras did.
 
I bought a couple of full boxes just in case supply was an issue - however I use my 6.5 and 06 more so if you need some to tide you over I’m happy to send a handful to keep you shooting - depends how many deer you are shooting annually….I think many of us will be more reluctant to have as many zeroing/paper punching sessions with our stalking bullets!

I use Sierra in all my rifles so just hope the shortage isn’t too long.

Thanks everyone for all the help, lots to think about them. I have phoned around, all out of stock but Kranks have put on back order for me.

Gixer thanks for the generous offer I will contact you re payment for a few.

I spoke to Sierra regarding the tipped gamechangers - they said it jacket is a very different design, it's a lot tougher bullet. I do have a box of these if anyone is looking for these - also recommended in a faster twist rate - not sure if 1:10 is enough.

I will look into nosler and hornady. Has anyone compared the Berger 87grain vld hunting bullet with the Sierra 85 hpbt?

For your given use I can recommend Hornady 95g SST, going at 3000fps, easy to achieve with N160. They seem to be available too. I am sure there is an add in the classifieds for a box and a half at a good price too.

90 grain Nosler BT are just as good performance wise as the Sierra 85g BTHP. I've used lots of both, certainly what I'd be looking for if I had run out of Sierra.
