We know, we’ve known for hundreds and hundreds of years but the lead ban is still coming.
Unfortunately there are just too few people using black powder or low velocity firearms to make any difference.

I am not anti lead in anyway shape or form, i shoot copper through personal Choice.

Whilst i admire your commitment to your chosen way of shooting, if the HSE say ban lead its going to get banned!

Its not going to matter if its solid or not.

This is rather like lead in petrol, some leaded petrol is still avialiabe for vintage cars.

If we can keep some lead for say muzzleoaders or rifle ranges, why not, if just needs evidence to support it.

There is a desire by sone to impose their personal preferences on to the rest of the shooting and stalking community.

Others simply do not care if there is a ban - on the effects to smallbore rifle shooting, to clubs, to the pathway for most shooters beginning their shooting life.

Nor to the businesses which provide essential services and who will go under when there isnt a sufficiently large local market to sell ammunition to. The days of a conveniently local RFD are numbered after any lead ban, those that remain will have very limited stock lines in popular cartridges only.

Components for reloading- will be even more expensive than now because it wont be worth the effort to import and distribute for such a small market.

If the gamedealers and supermarkets want lead free ammunition shooting their game, thats their choice although soon it will be head and neck shot only as they wont want copper or tin fragments either. Lets see the effect on deer welfare when this happens.

Same for landowners-their perogative if they want NLA or for those who wish to shoot it as preference. I shoot copper when required by landowners but it would not be my first choice.

For my own personal consumption, what the hell has it got to with anyone else-it harms nobody.

I know the risks and am happy to continue- as would muzzleloaders.

Some have mentioned elsewhere they have shot 4000 deer with copper over 15 years. 4000 would be a low annual shot count for me in most years.... there just isnt the awareness of what other people do outside of their own tiny little bubble before they chops off.

You shoot over 4000 deer in a single year? Really? That's a huge figure, that's an average of almost 11 deer every single day for 365 days a year ( total 4015)

I don’t dispute those numbers, some are killing mega numbers and bloody good job as well!

There is going to be a ban but the exact extent of it isn't decided yet. Like with any haggling process they start off wanting a total ban and then concede on a few points in the face of facts and opposition. If no one bothers to fight it with your mentality then yes there will be a total ban.

That’s not the case, the lead ban is going to be pretty much universal with a presumption against exemptions, there simply isn’t enough volume of black powder shooting to justify setting up a business based on catering to it.
