Should a redding type s competition die bump the shoulder back on my 223 ackley I’m pushing the case all the way into the die and still it won’t push the shoulder back cheers

Could be that the brass you have has sprung back or you have a chamber that's cut on the lower side of the tolerance.

My howa is the same, couldn't push the case shoulders back as its tightly chambered.

Isn't there a body die in the set?
Is it the bushing die that you are using?

I should have said the other problem is after resizing it actually makes the case longer causing it to chamber really tight

This is not a problem but a sign that it actually does something to the case. Trim your cases if they exceed the max. length.

May I ask a careful question? Have you ever read a proper reloading book?

Ha ha I actually watched this video before but no matter what I do I can’t get it to bump the shoulder back I’m going to try lathing a shell holder down to see if I can get the die to contact the shoulder

My Redding dies included a body die. Were your dies new?
Perhaps the expander is stretching the case.
I don't use it!
I've got a 223 body die on order with reloading solutions!

If it's a full length bushing die, removing the innards ( Bushing and spindle) will make it work just as a body die.
Ken.
Ps. Saying a Body die is a FL die that doesn't touch the neck, is like saying a Neck die is a FL die that doesn't touch the body. :-|:-|

Have you measured your shoulder bump before and after firing? Assuming you have to get to your question.

Is the brass once fired? What’s the difference in the above measurement?

Have you given the die an extra turn after it touches the shell holder to see if that makes a difference?
