Genuine Buffs are great and do the job. Get merino- rich socks that fit your feet and then sealskins waterproof socks over them, to suit your boots. Works for me.

Have just ordered a pair of long Alpaca socks to try, apparently better than merino if you believe the blurb , ill let you know if there any good once ive tried them out

I use these: Heavyweight Merino Performance Knee

Personally think the boot matters just as much.

Using Meindl Arctic at the moment.

Merino insoles for your boots are well worth having, don't skimp go for the climbers ones!

Have several pairs of 'Woolpower' / 'Ulfrotte' merino socks in various weights so can be worn individually or layered. Also have a pair of merino & possum fur that I got in NZ, they're pretty good too!

Am going to do a search for merino insoles though 👍

Suffer with cold extremities as well.
After a great deal of trial and error this is what works for me with suitable outerwear/footwear down to -20 degree’s
Merino wool Buffs.
Alpaca wool socks
Sheepskin wrist warmers.
Sheepskin lined mitts.
Merino wool thermals
Disposable heat packs in gloves and insoles for boots.
If in a high seat neoprene/ foam cushion

I think Ive tried just about every pair of socks available (except Alpaca), The wife thinks Ive got issues as I have that many pairs and I don't think there is any that truly keep your feet warm if your not moving around, the only thing that works for me is movement.
Right it's time to do some research on Alpaca socks.

Silk liner socks with darn tough merino over the top
woolpower thermals great and really long in the body especially the back.
woolpower buff and merino wool hat.
toasty.

Speaking of possum - have a Ray Mears possum beanie - have to say its the biz. So light but so damn warm.

Alpaca socks and thermal insoles. The only downside side is alpaca socks in an offshore laundry will come out to fit a toddler!

Other option is do what I did and go over seas to warmer climbs!
