I understand that there are other cases that can be used too but they usually involve fire forming first. A friend cadged some 8x57jrs cases off me to form .410 cases, these tend to be a little on the short side apparently..444 marlin cases are probably quite hard to get hold of?
I have been saving cases from my last couple slabs so have plenty to play with.
Added a .303 at renewal so me bring me I’ll probably have a play with those at some point!
Yes. I just stuffed toilet paper in there. I forget how much.would not using brass cases need a different diameter wad than a standard .410 fibre wad if using fibre wads?
I have and none available currently as far as I can seeHave you looked into .410 brass cases e.g. Magtech to see if they are suitable. Have used before in Marlin 410 lever action shotguns with some good results.
I'm not averse to fireforming, as mentioned in other reloading posts I shoot an ackley, a k hornet and form .280 and 25-45 Sharps from other calibres and have done 6.5 creedmoor out of .243 and .308 . I'll probably have a play with .303 when I get one just because I will have the brass but in reality I have around 750 plastic .410 cases to play with. Average number used for an evening on the rats is 40-60 so if I manage 3 loads a pop that 750 will keep me going for some years!I understand that there are other cases that can be used too but they usually involve fire forming first. I've also seen videos of 9.3x74r cases being used but these would be rather expensive to come by normally and there's no way am I going to give him any of my stash of 9.3 cases.
Plenty in stock here..I have and none available currently as far as I can see
Do they take SG primers or LR?Plenty in stock here..
Give me a shout if you want to try some..
They are LR, making them easy to prime with a press or hand primer..Do they take SG primers or LR?
Provided you have a conditioned FAC to purchase the LR primers if buying from an RFD , VCRAThey are LR, making them easy to prime with a press or hand primer..
Not sure about that. A shotgun certificate would suffice.Provided you have a conditioned FAC to purchase the LR primers if buying from an RFD , VCRA
Primers are not a controlled item as are full rounds of ammunition, they would not appear as an authority on an idividuals FAC or shotgun cert.Provided you have a conditioned FAC to purchase the LR primers if buying from an RFD , VCRA
Let’s not let this become a dick swinging contest!Rifle and pistol primers are controlled under the Violent Crime reduction Act of 2006 section 35 to buy the purchaser must have an FAC conditioned to need them ie for LR a .308 or SR a .223 etc.
Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006
An Act to make provision for reducing and dealing with the abuse of alcohol; to make provision about real and imitation firearms, about ammunition and about knives and other weapons; to amend the Football Spectators Act 1989 and the Football (Disorder) Act 2000; to amend the Sexual Offences Act...www.legislation.gov.uk
Shotgun certificate is not good reason to buy metallic cartridge primers.
edited to add ignorance of the law is no excuse, up to 6 months in prison and or a heavy fine, loss of RFD, FAC SGC cert also. If you are in this industry you really should know the laws that apply, even more fun is looking at the RIF and IF laws. Realistic Imitation Firearms and Imitation Firearms and these are toys.
