Weihrauch? (HW100)

Right gents, I’m going to take a plunge and hoping to go for a HW100 KT.

I was going to pluck for a .177 for a change of scenery over my springer unless anyone can convince me otherwise?

Are there any cons to this rifle? I have the 77k in .22 and it’s really well made. Nice rifle. Was planning to stick with the same brand.

I was going to pluck for a manual pump unless they’re totally impractical? Do most gun shops in central Scotland have dive bottles or the ability to refill easily? Think the bottles alone add on an extra couple of hundred quid?

Cheers!

Thanks for the quick replies gents, appreciated! Haven’t heard too much negative feedback about them to be fair.

Any further comments always welcome.

What’s the story with airguns these days,(been 18 years since I bought one in my local shop). An RFD transfer job rather than any sort of recorded postage I would imagine now legally?

You can post via PF48 but that wont cover the cost of the rifle. So buyer normally has to take the hit if the rifle is lost/damaged.

Got the 177 surprised how reliable and accurate, shot alot of vermin with it, questioned being 177 but glad i have it, no problems with it. Use a bottle, told if recharge done by a reputable person, not much chance of moisture getting in the gun

Fantastic pcp, I had one in .177 quite a few years ago. Actually competed in the hunter field target world championships with it, excellent air gun.
If you decide to buy second hand you can see if it has ever been back to hull cartridge for a service by giving them the serial number. O ring seals have a tendency to leak after a few years, can be replaced on a service and small price to pay on a great gun. 50yds it was pellet on pellet if I did my bit right, experiment with different pellet sizes to find what it’ll like best, and don’t skimp on ammo quality!

Had one for about 10 years,

Took a bit of time to find a pellet it likes but after that it quite happily shoots out to 40 yards on a calm day. It's an absolute tack driver.

Only problem I had was it dropping power so I removed the anti tamper and installed an adjustable hammer. And the barrel came loose so I lock tited the grub screw.

Mine is about 11 years old, replaced a couple of seals one at the fill adaptor and one (small red) when I’d over tightened the cylinder back on. I had hw100tuning, give it O ring replacement therapy and removed the anti tamper. There are a very reliable easy to shoot rifle. I had a cheek riser cut into the butt, a proper job.

Probably the best off the shelf pcp made . That’s why it’s been the best selling pcp since it came out . Had my .177 100k for 11 years and not one bit of trouble . I had Andy Beckett ( blackmax) service it with anti tamp taken out and replaced with adjustable one

Great air rifle, I have a .177 sitting around not getting a lot of use may think about selling it along with a dive bottle

Great choice!! I’ve had one in .177 for about 10 years now. You won’t be disappointed!!!

You will be better off going straight for a dive bottle to fill it. The pump is a lot of effort and you will find that moisture can get pumped into the air bottle on the rifle.

My one likes QYS streamline domed 9.56gr pellets.

Brilliant air rifles. Had one in .22 and couldn't fault it, silly to have sold it!
Have an FX dreamline now which I love, almost sold it recently but got cold feet and so glad I kept it.
Would consider another HW 100 if I didn't have this.

Great air rifle, as has been said numerous times, intrinsically regulated too which is a bonus. A relative has a Daystate Airwolf which I have also used extensively. Don't get me wrong, it has also been superb. However, there is no way I could completely strip that down to individual components, replace all seals, tune if you want to etc. As much as I'm a tech fan, more gadgets and things don't really seem to offer anything extra in real terms compared to the HW100 - but there are a few drawbacks.

Manual pump should be fine for a small cylinder, but I'd recommend one with a water filter to ensure no moisture gets into rifle.

The one thing I like about the hw100 is ease of maintenance.

I can strip it down, clean it, put a new seal kit in it, re set the regulator and hammer tension and have no worry about power creep or anything.

Just remember the o ring that isn't on any of the blue prints for some odd reason!
