Sellier & Bellot Blue 6.5mm Creedmoor TXRG 120gr Lead Free - Anyone using?

Ideally experience on live animals Muntjac to Fallow (or bigger) and a decent sample size of downed animals.

Currently using Sako 120gr Powerhead Blades and I was wondering if they are worth the extra £10-12 per box.

I've been using g s&b stuff for a while.... it works!...
I did find the sako blade to be a bit tighter grouping but due to the poor availability and the extra cost of it I've stuck with the s&b

Had no issues using them up in Scotland on Red Stags and have since used them on fallow and roe again with no dramas. My Tikka groups well with them and they were the cheapest lead free I can get hold of

I have been using them in my 6.5 and they group better than any lead i have used in it. I guess it could just be luck but im not complaining,for the price its win win for me. Problem now is getting hold of them locally as with any ammunition these days. Got 40 so hopefully will last till stock arrives

Like the chap above says, iv been using the Blue, and it groups tighter that the heavier lead, but iv not used it on Game yet.

Got these groups last October when I tried them out, both were 5 shot groups but I couldn't clearly spot a 5th hole on the 100 yard group. Not used them on deer yet.

Dropped a large roe buck on the spot yesterday with a heart & lung shot from 250yds. Medium sized exit wound. They group well out of my rifle too, roughly 0.5". Recommend

Not quite what you asked- but I have chest shot approx 30-40 red deer and 5 roe with these in 308. 165gr.

They appear to work as well as one can expect from lead free at average stalking ranges IMO.

They struggle at extended ranges (175+ yards) but I believe that's an issue with all lead free ammo.

I shot my last Roe at 245 or that's what the range finder said. If anything i probably could of had less hold over with the 6.5 120s if anything. I think they shoot well over 200. all 3 I've had so far have been over 200mts. But it might just be the one that suits my rifle.

Whether a bullet suits your rifle (eg grouping) will have no effect on whether it deposits energy into the quarry effectively by expanding (eg bullet design).

If youre using a 6.5CM on a roe I would expect it to kill fairly well anyway- that's a lot of ft lbs on a light deer species- even if much of the energy isn't deposited into the species and it exits.

Even without expansion- any uk legal calibre bullet in the right place will kill any uk deer species. Its just a question of his long it will take, how far the animals will run etc etc- on average.

Shoot the same deer at the same distance with a lead bullet- the bullet will expand far better- with more energy being deposited into the animal = a quicker cleaner kill

Lead free seem to be sufficient for most distances most of the time. But it's not ideal. Needs must I suppose.

To put another way- they may shoot well at 200+ yards (eg group)- but they don't perform as well (eg kill deer quickly) as lead do.

Yeah I was really only talking about its ballistics in my rifle. It’s far more accurate of any other factory I’ve used in the B14.

I have used over 100 of these on Fallow and Muntjak. Fallow over 200 meters and a lot of Muntjak and Fallow under 30 meters, the expansion has been good to very good , with the occasional excessive, which i am very happy about having had other makes pencil.

Have you run them over the chrono? There was a slow batch of .308 around that was only making around 1500 ft-lb

They get 2800fps out of my 22" 6.5 Creedmoor. A touch on the slower side but accurate as hell.

Tested them out through the chrono as I'd heard about this slow batch also. Bought quite a few boxes lately and they're all good.
