With all this new tree planting, why is all the concentration on eradicating deer, when grey squirrels can get through any deer fence, climb any tree tube and munch any new trees?
ive used warfarin, i never seen squirrels or rats that look to be suffering. so i dont agree with cruel. sub lethal doses arent dangerous, it also has a very short life in the body. traps can and do cause suffering as does shooting

I will have to differ - anything that makes an animal bleed slowly to death is in my opinion
You only have to look at the side effects it causes in humans when used as medication how bad these can be
Yes - trapping and shooting can be less than instantly fatal - but that's not the intention
Yup, those goddam Victorians devastating the countryside and sporting estates to build their fancy iron roads and canals when we had a perfectly good network of muddy tracks throughout the nation. Thank God for the immense foresight of Dr Beeching and his ilk in getting rid of them. Bring on more motorways and belching trucks I say. (/s)
More and more requests from Forestry managers to reduce deer numbers to protect crop. Fencing grants in Scotland have all but dried up so more areas of planting will not be fenced in. The last call was to an area with in excess of 50% damage to planting done last year !!
