I am after some honest users feedback please. If anyone has some of these binoculars - any comments on the glass, light gathering capabilities, target ranging and the applied ballistics.

Have used the 8x32 and also Swarovski equivalent. They are wonderful- lightweight, very bright and you can still see well after naked eye stops working. You might loose perhaps five minutes off the x42, but by that stage too dark to take a shot. But from weight, balance and size they are so much better. And substantially cheaper than the x42 size.

If I was to be buying binoculars these days this is what I would go for.

Same boat, thinking on a pair of 8x32 Pros, leave the 10x42 for the truck. Please share your thoughts...

I was in the same boat and my considerations were:

As light-weight as possible as I need them for walking. I don't walk in low light so light gathering is secondary. Thus they didn't have to be from the top range.
They have electronics inside which will definately not last a life time. So I am not prepared to pay a vast amount of money for them.
I don't need fancy trajectory calculations and bluetooth connectivity. Angle display and a simple rifleman's rule are sufficient for me.

So I ended up with the 8x32 Rangeguide by GPO costing me 750 EUR. At 700g they are really light-weight, other than the Leicas weighing 870g without the batteries.

If you use a thermal for locating, consider viewing through the 10x32 before deciding also, as by then you’ll have the general direction to direct your attention in sorted out. As above, you’re not losing too much daylight in the bigger scheme of things for most of thee season. They generally don’t weigh much more than 8x either!

My thermal has a built in LRF and is small and not heavy (Infiray Finder ii FH35 R), I managed to find an as new pair of NL Pure 10x32 here, and bit down on ‘the stick’. Suffice to say, lady FF was so impressed with their quality and handling weight, etc, that Santa was good enough to get her a pair also. They are a complete joy to use, and are very highly recommended to be on your ‘possible’ list..
