Cost of GP medical checks???

Medcert are £60 for those whose GP is reluctant to complete the pro forma document. If your GP is cheaper then great but it sets a good ceiling price.
I also did mine with Medcert as my GP would not provide one due to "practice policy".
If your GP charges more than Medcert, then use Medcert.
I had to nudge Medcert a couple of times for some reason (despite obtaining my medical records and sending them to Medcert myself), but they were much more efficient when a shooting friend used them soon afterwards (and that includes the sourcing his records). So, I'd say it's worth chivvying them along if time is an issue as they can do it quickly!
Edited to add: my GP provided my records FoC, but practice policy prevented him completing the police form. I sent in the records to the FLO with a covering letter, and they were sent back 2 weeks later with a note insisting a completed form was required. At which point I contacted Medcert.

Yep, and I'm pretty certain my local GP isn't inserting stents at the surgery? I'm guessing the odds of me having a random heart attack in a hospital operating theatre (unless I'm already under the knife) will be almost zero? The chances of there being a qualified doctor, complete with stent and all the gubbins, at the location where I have a heart attack is also almost zero (and I'm guessing they wouldn't want to be doing the deed at the side of the road?). What I need in an out of hospital medical emergency is someone with the kit and skill to keep me alive until I can get to hospital. That will be a fully tooled up paramedic, ECP or similar.

As I wrote, it's all about context.
There are more flavours of doctor than GPs.

My point is that they agreed in principle as a practice not to get involved then when it appeared that someone else would do it for a fee they had a sudden change of 'principles'.
Yes. My exact experience as I've mentioned in this very thread.

Youngest's university practice refused, took 2 SAR to get records (10 weeks) and then £60 to a very nice GP found via the BASC who turned the form around in days.

£50.00 each for my son and I, turned round in about 2.5 weeks. Text to tell us when it was ready to pick up.

i have just paid £50 for my own medical records for my application
Your GP is not able to charge you for an SAR to send your medical records out to a third party. Paying your GP £50 to complete the form yes, but not to respond to an SAR.

Medcert £60.
My GP practice suddenly decided they aren't supporting the licensing process. There's a lot of that about apparently!

Indeed and then they by not supporting the process may not put the marker on your records that you own firearms so then no long term monitoring of your health with regards owning firearms which is supposed to be an important part of the process. So £60 for a one in five year MOT. Without it being a mandatory requirement that all GPs engage in the process it’s value is significantly reduce.

It’s a private service so they can charge what they want. If you feel it’s not value for money take your custom elsewhere. For example, as stated above Medcheck will do it for a fixed price.
