Nice. Seems to be making a resurgence in popularity, hear more and more using the magnum. I've a Brno 611 and a 452 both love the Hornady 30gr. Honestly unless around paddocks or wanting to remain covert I'll grab the 452 for rabbits. As the OP states the problem can be getting close. Even 130 yards only gives me a 3" dropHad wmr on for almost 30 years now great cartridge. Had an Anschutz now a hw60j, both good rifles
A1
I know you have me on ignore but if something is supersonic it is heard because it creates a sonic crack so you’re talking rubbish, again! The ricochet potential should always be measured via the muzzle energy . NOT the claims of sellers! .22 ricochet are mostly audible because they are subsonic after hitting anything if not before . HMR are rarely audible because they are generally super sonic when ricochet occurs , likewise CF ricochets !
Shoot a rabbit past 160 yards in the chest and you will start to see HMR rounds fail to expand , let alone " turn to dust"
All shots should be assessed via backstop and backdrop . No bullet ( well maybe the old fairground clay mix .22) can and will ricochet
Took the new (to me) Savage 93 WMR that I got very cheap Thursday night. First 3 shots was 3 rabbits out of 4 sat in a field, 90, 100 & 120 yards.Nice. Never heard of a Savage rifle that wasn't accurate. Had a Model 10 many moons ago and although a little agricultural that thing would shoot lights out. Our American friends tend to know a thing or two and they would consider Savage, Cz/Brno and Wmr staples.Took the new (to me) Savage 93 WMR that I got very cheap Thursday night. I have a 611 too, though I find the 30 gr v-max aren’t punchy enough to cycle it in very cold weather.
I love a good WMR, a 452 was the first live firing rifle I ever owned, wish I’d never sold it!
I've always had my .22 zeroed at 70 yards (Winchester subs). Works perfectly for me. I rarely shoot closer than 40 yards or further than 100. Somehow I manage to judge placement at various ranges without having to think about it too much. The secret I guess, is simply practice on paper so you know what your rifle is doing, and very importantly, know your ground..22 with subs usually zeroed at 70 yards. If it was daylight it allowed shooting a Warren at 100- 110 yards with a few inches hold over. Oddly enough the top of his ears resulted in chest shot
With subs?I cheat using ballistic calculator on 008S! Take the time to set it up right, few trial & errors. Out with it tonight, was hitting gong @ 140yds yesterday afternoon![]()
Yeah rwsWith subs?
They seem to be a good go too! I’ll try to get my hands on some to tryYeah rws
What magnification Hawke vantage scope are you using? Lying prone to get effective to 100+ yds?I usually zero for 50, aim at head for 75 & ears for 100., with Vantage at low mag & subs. I hate holdover, it works sometimes, the beauty with subs & a mod is that you may get a second shot, & in dry weather you get to see where they are going. A scope mounted torch with a strong white/amber beam can be very effective, & you get to use your vantage at high mag. 100 yds is quite doable with that reticule.
You as well lol.I know you have me on ignore but if something is supersonic it is heard because it creates a sonic crack so you’re talking rubbish, again!
