Sat and waited at my bait side early doors.
Only because my sly fox visited before 7pm the night before but I knew she wouldn't do the same tonight but hey, beats telly!
Had my dog with me and yep it didn't show so I went to the chicken unit only up the road half a mile away.
Gets out of car and walks up past the first range.
Noticed a rabbit stood up for some reason and wondered what it had seen!! They don't fib!
Looked back a moment later and a cow has stood up looking towards that rabbit!
Ok, can't see anything or access there yet but something has their attention. I keep walking the hilly site, it's a pain in the arse to patrol to be honest and look down a bank side through the dam mesh fencing to see Charlie walking towards me to access the range!
Bloody ell.... fumble the NV on, press the ir, flick the 457 safety off, find Charlie now sitting down and drop a tiny pill in his bib, down he goes.
Easy, let go get him.
I've got to walk to the nearest gate, clamber over, walk through cattle, under an electric fence only to not find my fox!
Nothing in the thermal at all, I've got a runner!
So I loosed Jess and ask her "where is it" and she goes to work.
I follow her in the thermal and then notice a heat source that she homes in on it. It had made it about 100 yards. The furthest I've had one go with the HMR! Ok it's a big lad but I was only 40 yds or so distance at the shot!
Anyway another result.
