Sold: Bitch Teckel Rehoming

Very reluctantly, I am looking to rehome my Teckel bitch, who will be 5 years old in March 2024, through absolutely no fault of her own.

Freckle is jointly owned with my ex who has had her for the last 18 months but who is no longer able to look after her. Unfortunately, I am currently renting and am not allowed dogs in the house, so I need to find her a suitable new owner.

She is first and foremost a house dog and pet. She is a loving little dog, very happy and only wants to be with you. She is a very cuddly little thing, undeniably cute and loves attention. She also loves to travel around in the motor so may be suitable for someone who would like the company of a dog during their daily work routine.

Freckle also however has the traits of a working Teckel, she has a phenominal nose and I have tracked deer (dead) with her in the past and she has never failed to locate the animal. Despite her having done no tracking for the last couple of years I would be happy to demonstrate her tracking capability should her new owner wish to incorporate her in their stalking world.

She has had a litter in the past, mated to a show strain dog, and produced a fantastic litter. No breeding restrictions will be placed on her, but I’d prefer if she only had at most one further litter if the new owner wanted to, for the “right” reasons.

It is imperative that her new owner has her as a house dog, no cold, damp outdoor kennels please. I do pop her in the kennel with the lab sometimes if I head off for a few hours, but she will happily stay in her cage in the house.

Freckle is completely clean in the house.

She is KC registered.

Please contact me via PM in the first instance if you might be interested in taking her on, and we can then discuss things further via phone.

NB this is a very reluctant decision and I need a genuine new home for her, so please no timewasters.

Not necessarily looking for a fee for her but need to ensure someone doesn't take her on with a view to sell her on so will need to negotiate certain conditions! (been burnt before)

Hi Mickey,

Just to check, is she ok with other dogs and kids?

Can see you mentioned about being with your lab.

Do you want a stalking home or mostly just a nice home for her?

I’ve run it by the wife :D but with a 2 month old baby doubt it’ll be the time for us … but the wife’s parents may be ideal if you’d be happy with that.

Retired, lonely, they come to life then they see our dogs.

I imagine you’ll be flooded with offers mind.

Hi Lloyd

It really depends on the other dog tbh. She is great with my lab and GSP but we had a strong willed Schnauzer who 99% of the time would be fine but they would occasionally have a wee disagreement, but that was due to the Schnauzer being a very strong willed matriarch type of bitch.
Very good with kids, and given she loves to play and have her chest and tummy rubbed she is an ideal dog for having kids around.
I’m not sure she is a dog for elderly owners tbh as she is a well bred Teckel and if off-lead would probably be a concern if she hit scent! 😀

Well my new 'Co-Pilot' has landed, give her a few days to settle into her new surroundings, I've no doubt it's all a bit daunting for wee Freckle at the minute wondering what all the upheaval is about.

Sure she will get on just fine, big thanks to Mikeydredd for the opportunity, I'm sure it was a bit of a wrench parting with her, but we're only an hour or so away, so I'm sure they will both see each other again.

I have 5 days on Arran coming up from Weds onwards on the Reds, so Freckle will get a good chance to stretch her legs, and cover some terrain that will be unfamiliar to her, looking forward to the start of our adventures.

Cheers again Mike...
